August 1-10 Assessment and 11-20 Outlook 2026
During the second dekade of August, river basins benefiting from the Kiremt rainfall season are expected to experience moderate to very high surface water flows. The anticipated increase in rainfall and resulting river flows may provide important opportunities for water resource development, agricultural activities, and water storage, while also increasing the potential for localized flooding, riverbank overflow, soil erosion, and other water-related hazards in vulnerable areas.
Accordingly, the following sub-basin-specific Hydro meteorological recommendations should be implemented promptly. These measures are intended to maximize the benefits of the expected water availability, strengthen preparedness and early action, and minimize potential adverse impacts associated with excessive rainfall and elevated surface water flows.
