During September 2025, days remained warm over several portions of the lowlands of Ethiopia, particularly over most of Afar, Somalia, Gambela, and some parts of and western Amara (Fig. 3.1.2). Specifically, the extreme maximum temperature values were as high as 43.4, 41.6, 40, 40, 39.4, 38.6, 36.8, 36.4, 36, and 36°C over Semera, Elidar, Aysha, Gewane, Gode, Awash Arba, Metema, Kibridahar, Dalifagi, and Metehara (NMSA), respectively (Table 3.1.1).

During September 2025, the monthly rainfall exceeded 320 mm, or heavier rainfall was occurring over some parts of western Oromia, some parts of Amhara, and some parts of Tigray regions. In particular, the monthly total rainfall values of September 2025 were as high as 555.5, 415.4, 401.7, 381.3, 375.7, 357.2, 342.1, 340.9, 328.8, and 328.6 mm over Bullen, Arejo, Gidaayana, Aira, Kachise, Nekemte, Gimbi, Bahir Dar Met, and Gatira, Mankush, respectively.

During September 2025, some parts of the country's normal weather conditions were experienced, such as southern Tigray, central Amhara east, central and western Afar, central and southern western Benishangul Gumuz, most of the southern regions, and Gambela and Oromia region, and pocket areas of the Somalia regions. The areas with below-normal weather conditions experienced Most of Somalia, and some portions of Oromia, Amhar, and Afar regions. Finally, above normal over most of Tigray, western and southern Amhara, northern Afar, central Oromia, and northern and southeastern Benishangul Gumuz. Area is wetter than climatologically normal over most of Tigray north and western Amhara, central Oromia, most of Benishangul Gumuz, southern Afar, south western Gambela, and some portions of southern regions. On the other hand, most of Afar, Somalia, and some portions of Tigray, Oromia, Gambela, and southern regions are drier than climatological normal.
