Climate Bulletins
The Climate bulletins provide with summary of major climate
events in text, figure and tabular forms. These bulletins differs from the
other real time and near real time bulletins issued by the Agency, which for
their input depend only on meteorological stations equipped with single side
band radio for data transmission. Though this bulletin is not real time, published
with a delay of at least two months, the information contained in these bulletins
are based on data coming from a much larger number of meteorological stations.
Moreover, the information contained in these bulletins are not sector-specific
and a wide range of users can benefit from them.
Agrometeorological Bulletins
Agrometeorological bulletins provides the following information:
Weather summary, maps of rainfall and percent of normal rainfall, Weather outlook,
vegetation condition and impact on agriculture, and expected weather impacts
on agriculture. Bulletins are produced every 10 days and the bulletins on the
third dekade of each month are prepared together with the monthly or seasonal
Hydrometeorological Bulletins
Theses bulletins are prepared and disseminated for the purpose of providing
hydrometeorological information to different sectors of the community involved
in water related activities, by giving more emphasis to presenting the results
of analyses done on the extreme rainfall events as well as the moisture status
prevailed over river catchments.
In these bulletins hydrometeorological analyses are presented in maps and
tabular formats. The tabular summary highlights the total and extreme rainfall
events, number of rainy days, evaporation, humidity, sunshine hours and temperature
conditions. Analyses presented in the forms of maps indicate comparisons of
the annual total rainfall amount with respect to long-term means (percent of
normal) as well as moisture status conditions (rainfall to evaporation ratio).
Full Bulletins can be obtained from the Hydrometeorological Services Team
of the National Meteorological Agency.
Climatological Maps
Meteorological maps of Ethiopia give the long term mean of various meteorological
elements. It should be noted that these maps are not forecasts of meteorological
elements but show the collective conditions that occurred over several years;
any observed conditions for a given day or period may vary from the conditions
shown on the maps. The scale of the maps is 1: 2,000,000.
