Hydrometeorology outlook for Bega 2011/12

For the coming Bega season, moisture performance in October rain will contribute for WabiShebele, Gilgel Gibe and Tana dams to maintain water level rather than from rapid decrease. Bega 2011/12 season the middle and lower parts of Abay, Baro Akobo, Gilgel Gibe, Rift Valley and Genale Dawa will be expected in wet condition in October. In the rest Bega months the upper parts of all main river basins will be dominated in dry to semi dry condition. It should be noted that Bega is dry season and also windy and sunny condition will be dominated in most parts of the catchments. Thus efficient management of water is important for irrigation schemes, hydro-electric and drinking water purposes.
