The rainfall activity of the year 2009 was below normal over most parts of the country and it is normal over most areas of southern and central Oromiya, most parts of SNNPR, southern Somali, southwestern and southeastern Amahara, some parts of Tigray, Afar and Gambella. The annual total rainfall of the year 2009 was relatively less than that of the year 2008 over most parts of the country, except over southwestern SNNPR, eastern Tigray and northwestern Afar.
